ChurchConnect

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 11, 2026

ChurchConnect is a platform that connects ministry candidates with churches, and ministry schools with their students and graduates. This policy explains what information we collect, who can see it, and the choices you have. By using ChurchConnect you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

Account information. Your name and email address, and the details our sign-in provider needs to secure your account.

If you are a candidate, whatever you choose to put on your profile: your name, photo and cover photo; the roles you are seeking; an about section; your ministry experience (roles, churches, years and descriptions); denomination and ordination status; city and state and whether you would relocate; when you are available; links to your social or personal pages; a résumé; portfolio items such as sermons, worship sets, devotional plans and other files or links; and the school or training you list. You may also request references. A reference is written by the person you ask, through a link you send them. They provide their name, title, organization, an optional photo and a message, without needing an account. If you request career consulting, we also collect what you tell us in the request: your goals, an optional phone number and how you prefer to be reached.

If you are a church: your church's name, denomination, location, website, logo, cover photo, about text and featured video; your job postings; and your decisions and optional notes about applicants.

If you represent a ministry school: your school's name and logo, and your confirmations that a candidate is a student or graduate of your school.

Activity on the platform. We record which churches have viewed a candidate's full profile and which have expressed interest (including any note they sent), applications and their status, and reports of inappropriate content.

Payments. Paid plans, when they are in use, are processed by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and are never stored by us. We keep a record of your plan, its dates, and your Stripe customer reference.

Technical information. Cookies and similar technology that keep you signed in and secure, and routine server logs kept by our hosting providers. We do not use advertising trackers.

How we use it

  • To run the platform: create your account, show your profile or postings, and let candidates and churches connect.
  • To show a church which candidates match what it is looking for, and to help candidates be found.
  • To confirm school affiliations and show a verified-graduate mark.
  • To process payments for paid plans.
  • To keep the platform safe: review reports, prevent misuse and enforce our Terms of Service.
  • To contact you about your account, and to respond to your requests.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who can see what

  • Candidate profiles are not a public directory. A published profile can be viewed by churches that have an active plan, by the school you list (to verify you), by our administrators, and by you.
  • Portfolio items and your résumé are only shown to a church after it opens your full profile. We record that view.
  • References you request appear on your profile once the reference is submitted, because they are written to be shown there.
  • Church pages and job postings are public, so anyone, including visitors who are not signed in, can see them.
  • A candidate who applies or is contacted shares their message with that church. A church that expresses interest in you sends its name and an optional note to you.
  • Career consulting. If you complete career consulting or the Birkman assessment, your profile can show a badge saying so. Only the fact that you completed it is shown, never your results, and you can turn the badge off.
  • A school you are verified by can see counts of how many churches have viewed or shown interest in its verified students, and how applications are progressing. It does not see which churches.

A draft profile that you have not published, or a profile you have hidden, is not shown to churches searching the platform. A church you have applied to can still open your profile. Anything you put on a published profile can be seen by people who are allowed to view it, so only include what you are comfortable sharing.

Who we share information with

We use trusted service providers to run ChurchConnect. They handle information only to provide their service to us:

  • Clerk, for sign-in and account security.
  • Supabase, for our database and for storing the files and images you upload.
  • Vercel, for hosting the website.
  • Stripe, for processing payments.
  • Resend, for emailing our team when someone sends a request, such as for career consulting or a school partnership. Those emails contain the details in the request.
  • Our career-consulting partner, only if you request consulting. We share your name, email and phone so they can contact you and deliver the service.

We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect people's safety or our rights, or as part of a sale or reorganization of the service (in which case this policy will continue to protect your information or you will be told of changes).

Where information is stored

Your information is stored by our providers on servers in the United States. If you use ChurchConnect from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed there.

How long we keep it, and deleting it

We keep your information while your account is active. You can edit your profile, remove portfolio items, and cancel reference requests that have not been answered at any time. To remove a reference that has already been submitted, or to have your account and profile deleted, or to ask for a copy of what we hold about you, email us at the address below. We will respond within a reasonable time. Some information may remain for a limited period in backups, and we may keep records we need for legal, billing or safety reasons.

Your choices

  • Choose what to put on your profile. Fields are optional apart from your name.
  • Keep your profile as a draft until you are ready to publish, and hide it at any time, for example once you are hired. You can still edit it while hidden and show it again later.
  • Ask us to correct, export or delete your information.
  • Ask us to remove a reference or other content you believe is inaccurate.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections, access controls on our database, and long, hard-to-guess web addresses for uploaded files. Those files are shown only in the places described above, but anyone who has a file's exact address could open it, so please do not upload anything highly sensitive. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed without permission. Please use a strong password and keep your sign-in details private.

Children

ChurchConnect is for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform changes. We will change the date at the top, and for significant changes we will make a reasonable effort to let you know.
